Oye Audio Review

Oy! The next offering from youthful star Siddharth. An important thing to mention about this album is that the album production was also done by Siddharth. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music. Let's see how the music has turned out.

1. Oy! Oy!
Singer: Siddharth
Lyricist: Chandrabose
This is an energetic song with peppy lyrics. Siddharth has sung really well and there is a lady's voice that comes in the charanam that is also good. There are two things I really like about this song: (1) The introduction and (2) The charanaalu. The introduction starts off slow but then the beat picks up which really gets you into the song. The charanaalu are full of energy and nice rhyming lyrics. Out of all the songs I have listened to this year, this appealed to me the most on the first listening.
Rating: 4/5

2. Saradaga
Singers: Karthik, Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Anantha Sriram
A song in which the heroine talks about her feeling towards the hero. The thing I liked about this song was the interludes and the introduction (piano). They sound different to what I have heard before. But personally I thought the palavi of this song isn't really catchy and the charanaalu are not that catchy either. I liked the use of the piano for interludes. The singers both did a good job.
Rating: 3/5

3. Waiting for You
Singer: KK
Lyrics: Vanamaali
A somber song. Again there is use of piano for the introduction. KK does really well in this song which has both base and high pitch singing. His diction is also really good. I really liked the lyrics in the first charanam: "Puvve mullai, kattesthundaa..., Neere nippai kalchethundaa...". Overall the lyrics are good. The interludes are good, especially the second one in which it starts by overlapping the voice. This song reminds us a bit of Naa Manasuki from AMAV another Yuvan Shankar Raja composition. Overall, it is a good and hopefully it is picturised well.
Rating: 3.5/5

4. Anukoledenadu
Singer: Shreya Ghoshal
Lyricist: Vanamaali
A heroine solo song. The starting of this song is really good, with a good beat. However the energy level fall once the singer begins singing. This maybe because the lyrics aren't catchy in the pallavi. However, the interludes are well composed. The lyrics in the charanaalu are good. There is a high pitch section at the end of the charanaalu which Shreya Ghoshal sings with gusto. Her diction of telugu is really good which contributes to the lyric clarity. A pretty good number.
Rating: 3/5

5. Povodhe Prema
Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyricist: Vanamaali
The music director decides to sing this one. Unfortunately, I didn't find this one impressive. The main reason is the lyric clarity and diction. Yuvan singing-wise is alright but his diction is not impressive. His pronounciation for words like "vellipothundaa" (going), "inallu" (all this time), "saapum" (curse) are irritating. Basically a lot of people pronounce these words like this, but in a song the mood of the song and lyrical-value is really compromised and more care should have been taken. In terms of composition, it is a good one but a better singer with more familiarity with the language should have been used.
Rating: 2/5

6. Seheri
Singers: Toshi, Priya
Lyrics: Surendra Krishna, Krishna Chaitanya
This another energetic song. The introduction is peppy and the pallavi is really catchy. Toshi is good especially in the catch-line of the song "Seheri". The interludes are modern with interesting combination of instruments used. The way the first charanam is composed is nice, with a complete constrast from the rest of the song in which the female voice sings. The only part that was a bit disappointing, was the pronounciation or incorrect lyric in the second charanam. The male voice says, "Manasuki doochindi chese" instead of "Manasuki thoochindi chese". But the rest of the song is impressive.
Rating: 3.5/5

Overall Rating: 3.2/5 (Good)
My pick: Oy! Oy!

Firstly, thank you for your comment. Povodhe Prema might have been picturised well. But from a purely music point of view, I think it could have been better. The main downfall of the song is the choice of singer, as I explained in the review. Anyway, I haven't seen the movie yet. I might change my decision after watching it.
